Farmers Market Manager
Collins Family Orchards is a 4th generation family farm located in Selah, WA and servicing the greater Seattle area. We grow a variety of tree fruits such as cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, apples, pears, and much more! While not certified organic – we grow everything on our orchard utilizing organic practices. The health of our employees, land, trees, and fruit is our highest priority!
We are searching for a Farmers Market Manager ready to start in early to mid-February 2022. This position is full time, year-round (with a slower season in the winter) located in Seattle, WA.
Working for a small business often means that you wear many hats. As the Farmers Market Manager, your role will change throughout the year. April – November will mostly be staffing and managing our bustling summer farmers markets. November - April your time will be split with year-round markets and helping with our Winter and Spring CSA seasons. Ability to work weekends is a must. As the farmers market manager for Collins Family Orchards, you will:
April - November
Manage our booth at busy Seattle area markets
Hire and train farmers market leads and helpers
Create a schedule for market leads and helpers
Foster supportive and open communication with coworkers and staff
Communicate with market staff
Conduct extraordinary customer service
Count and process all market income including cash, credit card, gift card, and EBT
Create fruit displays that draw customers in
Follow all food safety rules
Drive large vans throughout Seattle
Manage the farmers market email account
Process and prepare farmers market preorders
November – April
Manage year-round markets and corresponding market staff
Drive CSA delivery routes
Participate in our Winter and Spring CSA packs
Communicate with market staff
Manage the farmers market email account
Qualifications
At least 1 year of working a farmers market booth with experience driving a large vehicle, customer service, set up and tear down, money handling, and training others.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to take direction, ask questions, and offer ideas to fellow staff.
Clean driving record with experience driving large vehicles in the city.
Experience managing people
Strong problem-solving skills and poses the ability to think on your feet.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management skills
Ability to give and receive feedback gracefully.
Willingness to work in inclement weather.
Ability to life 50 pounds.
Ability to work weekends consistently.
Experience training others.
Compensation starts at $21/hour.
